She flipped to the last page of the book. That, too, was the last drop from her water jug.

She waited. Morning... noon...

"Number 456..!" Her heart skipped a beat.

Choosing five, she carefully shaded the ovals. She stood beside the digital counting machine.

"Verifying your ballot... scanning complete... congratulations!"

Lying face-down slowly to relieve the tingling pain in her back, she willed herself to sleep. When she felt those oil-damped palms again weakly massaging from her shoulder down... Her mother had staggered to her bedside. Soothed, she buried her face deeper into the tear-stained pillow and drifted in that touch. Writer's Block

Being a creative writer, it was hard for her to not write daily for the last month. That day, she was determined to write. She forced herself to write about three pages.
